Blue Sky Thinking

Blue Sky Thinking :
A management cliché, most commonly heard in the UK, referring to open-ended thinking and inspired by the idea that 'the (cloudless) blue sky is the limit'; it allows creative brainstorming unfettered by reality

I was tempted to call this my Olympic legacy since my car was parked not much more than a mile away from the Olympic Park for the duration, outside my house.  But on reflection I think it was probably one of me neighbours.

  1. Beautiful reflection of the clouds on your cars bonnet; how very tiresome about the inscriber's thoughts on the subject, and not a particulary welcome Olympic legacy. Ba$+@rd!

  2. Oh, and it appears he/she can't spell.

    (Which is such a surprise.)

  3. Brainstorming, indeed! Such twaddle. Big wank, if you ask me.

Also, if one were to engrave one's neighbour's car the polite spelling should always be used – phuck. Such malformed script is clearly an argument for keeping cubic zirconia out of the hands of the hoi polloi.

  4. When I worked in Portsmouth Magistrates Court, in the 1970s, a woman was too embarrassed to relate exactly how her neighbour had addressed her. (This being the charge of Using Obscene
Language.) "Write it on a piece of paper, my dear, and pass it up to the bench" said the chairman. Sitting next to the court clerk, I was able to see what she'd written, which was "You Stupid Count".

  5. that sucks (i can spell it!). the worst thing that happened to my car was that someone threw spaghetti and tomato sauce on it, and wrote the same word in duct tape... which they also spelled wrong. since my car is rather common, and i wasn't parked in my neighbourhood, i am assuming someone made a mistake. but sunbaked spaghetti is rather hard to remove from the windscreen. ugh.

  8. Is it a posh car? Suppose smarter looking are most likely to be 'keyed', will you bother to have it resprayed or just touch it up y'self?

  10. My "thought that counts" comment was meant in relation to your "stupid count", but somehow, in revenge for my Fort Knox requirements when trying to add a comment, my attempts to "Reply" in relation to that particular comment seemed to have failed, and my comments stands alone and unrelated. How that makes sense!

  11. columnist, It was entirely clear to me, your train of thought from count to counts - and thank you for that. Trouble is, the comments always come up in the order they are received even if I try to publish them
in a different sequence. My reply to you was actually a complete non-sequitur because I had so enjoyed our exchange on your post. I do wonder about my brain increasingly, these days.

  12. Are you now tempted to leave the East End for somewhere 'nicer' like Chiswick?

  13. Oh that it was just a 'reflection', as transient as the clouds themselves.

    Delightful blog btw :)
