Apocalypse Now
At the end of last year I found myself predicting that 2011 would somehow be 'apocalyptic' but never thought I'd witness it so graphically on my television screen. It's almost impossible to imagine what it means in terms of human life, love, livelihood to the Japanese people but this is my insignificant message of condolence. I have huge respect and affection for that Nation.

Indeed, one is greatly shocked and upset by the devastation that this tragedy has wrought on so many, and so violently, in Japan.
ReplyDeleteThe horrifying part seems to be just developing. This is going to take a huge international effort simply to ameliorate the worst of it.
ReplyDeleteShocking! I never thought about the link with that famous & wonderful Japanese print.

It is so terribly sad. There are heart-wrenching stories, which my Japanese other half relays to me from NHK news. It's all too reminiscent of the Sumatran tsunami of 2004.
ReplyDeleteThe news from Japan seems to get worse and worse. We were sceduled to visit about now, but of course will avoid it for the time being.
ThAnk you all for responding to this post. I myself don't know what else to say that can in any way be meaningful amidst catastrophe on that scale.
ReplyDeleteDear Rosie, it's devastating. I went and a made a donation at the bank. It's hard to know what to do.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're well xx
