Queen Elizabeth II : Here and Hair for Sixty Years

My modest tribute to Queen Elizabeth on her Diamond Jubilee is to wonder how many times and with what patience she has submitted to having her hair done.

  1. Great pictures. I've always thought she is so beautiful! Happy Monday! N.G.

  2. She must get it done almost everyday - even when she is out with her headscarf on the front is always perfect. I wonder who is the royal curler?

  3. I've always heard she does her own hair

  4. Hail to the Queen, and to the, um, hairdresser, who makes her look like nobody else but HRH QE II

  5. I should think it's daily, and perhaps more frequently when a tiara is applied. As I am rather follically challenged, I would probably have less trouble with the position, but oh, I remember there are at least two in front of me in the line, although they could do with a bit of advice, methinks. Mind you, she seemed to cope pretty well under these circumstances:

  7. As an enthusiast still for the very vintage of Leica she is holding in the first portrait, an early M-3 from the early 1960s, I admire how she really has reinforced respect for fine qualities, even in measured personal delight, as the sovereign, snapping her own pictures for fun.

  9. Hi Renée, I 'm crazy about her too. She's been there all my life, longer, sadly,
    than my dear old mama.

  12. I remember being taken to see QE11 about 1963 when she visited Sydney. She was wearing an apricot ensemble. Her jewellery is to die for ! all those real pearls.

  13. The Queen looks like she has been blessed with beautiful hair to work with. That puts her at a distinct advantage over quite a few of us. Hopefully her hairdresser is well rewarded as she always looks beautiful.

  14. My mother had a similar hairdo. She went to the beauty parlor once a week and it held up pretty well. I wonder though about the queen. Her's is always PERFECT which suggests that she must sit down for a scrub and set a little more often. Who knows, when I'm her age , I might go for this style. The flawless hair does a lot to distract from the creases of of age :)
