  1. Slightly provocative poses your model finds herself in. I would be surprised if it were not so! I suppose Stubbs would have done this if he hadn't concentrated so much on the horses.

  3. Columnist, an insightful comment if I'm not much mistaken! And I'm still laughing. Thank you for brightening the day.

  4. columnist:From what I've read about old Stubbs, he may have preferred the horses.
Is it true he heaved a dead pony to his upstairs studio on his shoulders?
You have a gift for composition, Rose. I have to cut out various elements of my drawings and place them in the correct position. Never get it right off the bat.

  5. rurritable, I'm pleased with your comment about composition. I struggle with it actually as I normally just place one iconic image on a page. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

  6. Jodhpurs- a wonderful solution for women who don't want to ride side saddle- As Mammy said in Gone with the Wind "It ain't fittin' for a girl child to ride a-straddle with her dress flyin' up"

  11. These are lovely, Rosie.
Had no idea a hunting cap (or two) could be so poignant when
made the subject of a good drawing.

  12. Ah Mr Worthington, that's so good of you to say so. There is also something rather poignant about a riding hat hanging about on the premises of someone who has no pony and can barely ride.
