Trying to Capture the Spirit of the River

This is a detail of the painting I made from our Thames odyssey.
I am rather fond of cows at the water's edge. This may not be the last.

  7. Lovely. Reminds me of Sargeant, and a little bit of Hopper.
I understand the concept of a graded wash, but have never been able to bring it off. My watercolors always look like an obsessive-compulsive found a cache of felt-tip markers.

  8. Thank you coozledad! My graded washes are a bit unscientfic and random. I have taught myself and all I can recommend is patience to let everything dry. (I tend to have another game of Bejewled whilst I'm waiting)
